Bonding and Learning: Attachment Overview

Module 7 Overview: Western culture has traditionally viewed parenting and the attachment relationship as beginning after birth. This module supports how the Bonding/Attachment relationship of parenting begins preconception and lasts throughout the pregnancy, birth, and beyond. It is a dyadic, reciprocal relationship between the prenate and mother. It introduces an early parenting paradigm to honor the possibility of conscious conception and communication between them. The materials present results from many research studies and case reviews. It introduces the profound importance of healthy bonding between the prenate and mother, the birth experience, and the first year of life.

Students: This module supports how babies start to learn inutero through their relationship with their mother. David Chamberlain does an excellent job of supporting this with various research studies. Marshall Klaus and John Bowlby are beloved classic researchers and authors. In John Wilks' edited volume, Graham Kennedy brings some new science to the study. Gerhardt Schroth's work and research he cites of Jeno Raffai show the profound evidence of the positive impact of prenatal bonding. And please enjoy films from our classic authors Joseph Chilton Pearce, Marshall Klaus, Ashley Montagu, James Prescott.
