Module 5 Overview
Module 5: This module examines experiences that create early imprints in the prenate, baby and birth, and the first year of life. The reading material includes models of how to work with stress and trauma from a PPN perspective. It also introduces the study of consciousness and embodiment.
Students: In this module, we introduce you to psychological and somatic theories that support our work. William Emerson has written about the vulnerabilities of the prenate. Stan Grof and William both established that birth creates a memory in the body. More recently, Peter Levine established a clear distinction between explicit and implicit memory, and that babies have memories of their birth. APPPAH early pioneer Michael Trout presents about how angels in the nursery, or people who were there for us in our implicit memory, positively impact us. APPPAH pioneer Wendy Anne McCarty's book gives ground for consciousness in human form, especially babies. Dan Siegel presents his theory of the human mind. Finally, David Haas, in Wilk's edited volume, presents a compact chapter about several theories that support healing with families.
